Police Commissioner must decide whether or not to publish Darryl Luke Borg report

Monday, 19 January 2015, 20:40 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Home Affairs Ministry has still not received a copy of the internal police report surrounding the conduct of operations in the Darryl Luke Borg case, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said in response to a question posed by PN MP David Agius.

Borg had been remanded in custody following a hold-up charge at a Birkirkara confectionary, however was wrongly prosecuted. Later, Inspector Elton Taliana had arraigned a separate person over the incident, who pleaded guilty.

The Minister said that it would be up to the Police Commissioner to publish the police report, however Mr Agius indicated that former Commissioner Peter Paul Zammit had stated that he would publish the report.

As for a second report relating to former Commissioner Peter Paul Zammit allegingly dropping charges against a man who had assaulted police officers, the Minister said that the results  will be published at a later date
