Monday, 19 January 2015, 14:59 Last update: about 13 years ago

GO is a main sponsor of the Citrus Festival, taking place today at San Anton Palace to raise funds for the Malta Community Chest Fund. This sponsorship follows on from the substantial support, which GO recently provided for l-Istrina. This included €32,000 in cash, of which €5,000 came from the GO Cares Employee Fund, as well as the free provision of all the necessary communications infrastructure and technical support required.Today's Citrus Festival will give the public access to the private gardens of San Anton which are home to 600 citrus trees. The Palace kitchen will also prepare food and desserts based on oranges and citrus products while animation for children and entertainment from various personalities will be provided throughout the day.Josephine Grima, senior manager HR Operations at GO and a member of the Employee Fund committee, said: "GO's sponsorship of the Citrus Festival shows that our support for the Malta Community Chest Fund is not just a once a year event, even though for many employees l-Istrina means a very hectic Christmas period, working hard to install and maintain the complex communications infrastructure required. The support which both the company and employees offer voluntarily highlights our willingness to continue to give time and money to those in need."The GO Cares Employee Fund supports several organisations and good causes on an ongoing basis. Employees contribute to the Fund voluntarily by donating a small amount from their monthly salary. Throughout the year this fund is not only utilised to financially support worthy causes but voluntary initiatives are also organised for employees to go on-site to give a helping hand. The Citrus Festival is open from 10am onwards.
