A series of lectures to raise awareness among the public on what the Three Cities - Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea - offer to visitors in terms of heritage, are to be held between this month and April.

This was announced by Minister Joe Mizzi – the Cospicua rehabilitation Committee falls under his remit – and Charles Flores, chairman of the committee, at the Upper Barakka Gardens.

It is pointless restoring historic sites and not having people appreciate them, Mr Flores said, adding that a number of experts will address participants on various topics related to the history of the Three Cities and their treasures.

Minister Joe Mizzi said that Cospicua has a lot to offer but unfortunately there are people who do not know this.

Architect Wendy Attard said that the project’s focus was initially on architectural treasures however it was later expanded to include the socio-cultural aspect.

The first lecture is to be held on 25 January at Isla’s Centru Matul il-Jum, Grupp Gwardjola,  the second lecture is to be held on 22 February at Kalkara’s Villa Bighi, Birgu’s maritime museum on 29 March and Bormla’s Dock Number 1 on 26 April. All lectures will start at 9.45am.

The lectures are free and will be held in Maltese.
