Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said that 81 voluntary homicides occurred between 1999 and 2014.
He was responding to a Parliamentary Question by PN MP Anthony Agius Decelis. 2014 saw a total of 6 voluntary homicides, four of which remain unsolved. Five of the victims were Maltese, according to information he tabled in Parliament.
1999 and 2012 both saw the most number of murders during this period. A total of 24 cases remain unsolved over the entire time period.
