Reduction in energy tariffs translates into a reduction in inflation - Energy Minister

Friday, 6 February 2015, 18:32 Last update: about 11 years ago

The reduction in energy tariffs translates into a reduction in inflation and an increase in business competitiveness, Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi has said.

"The European Commission has given this government another positive certificate for our energy sector".

"For its winter economic forecast, the EC described dynamic investment in the energy sector as one of the contributors for our economic growth".

"The European Commission predicts further increase in consumption of products and services thanks to the increase in cash on hand for families and businesses resulting from reductions in electricity and water bills that previously were considered among the highest in Europe".

The Energy Minister said that the EC recognised that the reduction in bills for businesses coming in March, in addition to reforms currently being undertaken in the energy sector, business competitiveness will improve. "This can result in more investment and exportation".
