During this year, six sessions of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) will be conducted at Mater Dei Hospital where 30 couples per session will be given such treatment, Parliamentary Secretary for Health Chris Fearne told parliament this evening.
He said that 30 couples had already benefitted from the free treatment. A total 180 couples would have received the treatment by the end of the six sessions.
The new facilities at Mater Dei hosting such couples include a theatre and laboratory specifically for IVF-related investigations.
