"Ħenjin dawk ta' qalbhom safja ..." ("Blessed Are The Pure At Heart...").  With these words Jesus teaches us that those with pure hearts will have God's blessing if we live our lives based on his examples. This is also the title of this year's production organised by the Propera Avgesco Drama Group - Hamrun.

Through this theatrical production the group will recount the last few hours Jesus spent on earth. The audience will see Jesus tempted by the devil in the desert, a few of his miracles as well as some of his teachings. His teachings were never accepted by the High Priests of the temple and it was because of this that they started to discuss how to get rid of him

The production takes us also during an important meeting of the High Priests, who asked the help of Judas to arrest Jesus. They were ready to do anything, so much so that they paid Judas to take them to Jesus, arrest him and have him sentenced to death, as according to Caifas "it would be better for one man to die, so that the Jews can be saved".

Since the Jews were under Roman governance, after they arrested Jesus, they take him before the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate to sentence him to death. Pontius Pilate finds no harm or guilt in Jesus, washes his hands and gives him to the public to crucify.

As we already know, Jesus was crucified between two thieves as if he was a criminal himself. Joseph of Arimathea asks permission to bury the body of Christ in his grave and Jesus is buried there. After the third day, he is resurrected from the dead, appears to Mary Magdalene and she goes to give the good news to his disciples.

This year's production is in one act and is written and directed by Pierre Bonello. It shall be presented at the Hamrun Local Council Square in Duke of Edinburgh Street on Saturday 28 March at 8.30pm.
