24 countries have more powerful passports than Malta - Henley & Partners Visa Restriction Index

24 countries have passports more valuable than the Maltese passport, according to the Henley & Partners Visa Restrictions Index.

Malta was given a score of 166, tied with Malaysia for 8th place. 1st place countries were given a score of 174, with Finland Germany Sweden, USA and the UK tied in that bracket. This means that Malta can access 166 countries without a visa.

The score was calculated based on visa requirements from all countries. "Countries are listed according to the numbers of other countries to which visa-free access is possible. Hence, Finland, Germany, Sweden, the UK and the US, who can all access 174 countries visa-free, the highest score achieved, are ranked in first position".

"The amount of nationalities (passports) evaluated is 199. These are the 193 UN Member States, Chinese Taipei ("Republic of China Taiwan" passport), Kosovo, Palestinian Territory, Vatican City, Hong Kong (SAR China) passport, and the Macao (SAR China) passport".

At the bottom of the list - Azerbaijan, Benin and Kyrgyzstan rank 70th, with citizens able to travel to 58 countries visa free.
