The European Central Bank will be holding a meeting of its Governing Council in Malta this October.

The ECB normally holds two meetings outside its normal meetings in Frankfurt.

This will be the very first time that the ECB will be holding this meeting in Malta.

This was announced by Central Bank Governor Josef Bonnici who today presented the Central Bank annual report to the media.

The ECB meeting, Prof. Bonnici said, will be held on 21 October and will be followed, as is usually done, by a Mario Draghi press conference in Malta.

It will be a huge logistical task for the Central Bank of Malta’s 320 employees compared to the burden on the Bunsdesbank’s 10,000.

Then, in November, the Central Bank will be holding an ECB European Cultural Days in Frankfurt, presenting the best of Malta’s culture. There will be two or three main events in this week, which will go on for three or four weeks in November, one of which, to be held at the Frankfurt Opera House may include an appearance by Joseph Calleja.
