Sheffield UK recently hosted persons with disability from Malta and Germany on an EU funded exchange programme.

The Maltese participants were able to learn about how other countries create opportunities for young persons with disability to find employment.

Their weeklong visit included some very special moments. They were invited to the City Hall where they met the Lord Mayor in his parlour, and visited the council chamber.

They also spent an exciting morning visiting Sheffield Wednesdays' football ground and meeting some of the players. This part of the programme was organised by the Foundation for Social Welfare Services' Marketing team.

Mr Alfred Grixti, CEO of the FSWS, confirmed that the main objectives of the exchange, to assist Agenzija Sapport clients to become as independent as possible were met with great success.  He said that clients made their own breakfasts, managed their own money and decided for themselves when to shower and when to go to bed. These seemingly small issues are milestones on the journey to a more independent existence, he added.

All the participants thoroughly enjoyed their time in Sheffield.
