Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this morning met up with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev where the two discussed more avenues for increasing cooperation between both countries, apart from discussing Azerbaijan’s developing relations with the EU. Dr Muscat is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

On his part, Mr Aliyev expressed satisfaction over the positive developments in terms of relations between his country and Malta’s.

His aim is to engage in cooperative agreements with various EU member states.

Dr Muscat said that the education sector should be explored next in the light of an agreement between Azerbaijan and France, where a university is to set to open following a visit made by France’s President Francois Holland to Azerbaijan on 25 April.

The meeting between the two leaders took place in backdrop of an international conference being held in Azerbaijan and organised by Nizami Ganjavi International Centre titled Third Global Shared-Societies Forum, which is being addressed by leaders and former dignitaries of various countries, including Germany, the UK and the US.
