PN leader Simon Busuttil said today that he found it rather strange that the designation of ex nursing union boss Paul Pace changed as many as three times in a matter of days.

First we learn that he was to be made the head of a foreign-based nursing school to be set up here, then CEO at the health ministry and now advisor to the ministry, Dr Busuttil said in reaction to Mr Pace’s appointment.

“We still don’t know what this appointment will entail but what we hope is that the appointment is a useful one and was not simply given to facilitate an individual’s needs,” he said.

The Malta Independent reported last week that Mr Pace was to be made head of a nursing school in Malta which forms part of Northumbria University based in Newcastle. But his academic qualifications for running such a school were questioned by the University and the medical profession, and his appointment by the government was changed to one within the health ministry.

Mr Pace recently resigned his post as MUMN and Forum Unions Maltin president.
