Birdlife Adult Group activities continued with a spring day's outing last Sunday on the beautiful island of Comino and included tours of the Santa Marija Tower and the Santa Marija Gun Battery. 

The main event of the well attended visit was a bird ringing demonstration at BirdLife's Ringing Station at Wied L-Ahmar.

Participants were in luck as on the day and time of visit three bird species were netted.  The complete process of logging bird details including weight, measurement and fat content as well as numbered ringing were carried out and  explained in detail.

The day's birds included a golden oriole (tajra safra), a wood warbler (vjolin hadrani) and a woodchat shrike (kaccamendula).

The whole process on any one bird took no more than three minutes and  released immediately after. A great day out enjoyed by all.
