Isolina came to Malta from Argentina wanting to improve her English. Falling in love with Malta, its beautiful sun and sea and friendly people, she immediately felt 'at home'. Back in her own country, Isolina spends her spare time rescuing dogs and finding them homes, so while in Malta she wanted to help where she could.
Upon contacting the SPCA she found she could volunteer both in the home with the animals and also in the shop to help raise funds to run the home. Whilst enjoying her herself so much, she has been an absolute treasure!
Isolina's time with the SPCA will unfortunately come to an end in a few months so if you have any time on your hands and would like to help out with the animals in the Home or at one of the shops please do join in the fun and help keep the Home going at the same time!
On one of her days at the home Isolina met a young Belgian lad called Thor. Thor was here on holiday with his father, when he was at the beach and made a bet that if he jumped into the cold water his father would have to give him €50.
He did, and true to his word his father gave him the money and asked where would he like to spend it... what a surprise! Thor's wish was to sponsor a dog at the SPCA! Imagine the joy, he chose Brenda! Brenda as you can see is a beautiful gentle Labrador. Sadly, her owner died so she had been with us patiently waiting for a new loving owner.
The Mad Hatter Fair
Visit the Mad Hatter Fair at the Maria Rosa Vineyard in Attard on Sunday 31st May from 11am to 7pm. If you feel like having some fun, there will be prizes for the Best Mad Hatter Costume, and a vintage bus to carry you to the beautiful venue where you can meet and learn about a variety of animals, take a pony ride, visit stalls, and play lots of games for children and adults. They will be putting on a 'Scruffs Dog Show' so make sure to enter your dog! Grooming will be available even if your dog isn't into 'shows'. There is a BBQ for lunch with a picnic pack for the children with plenty of fresh lemon and of course, wine for the adults! It's a great day out for all the family, and all for a great cause!
The SPCA relies totally on sponsorships, donations and fund raising and we certainly wouldn't cope without all our wonderful volunteers.
