Three police officers from the traffic section were this morning involved in an unusual situation when they helped a woman in labour through heavy morning traffic.
“Police Officers at the Control Room and the Traffic Section had an unusual response to a call for assistance this morning. A man called the Police Control Room at about 8am, asking to be assisted in surpassing the traffic in which they were stuck, since his wife was about to give birth.
PC 248 Anthony Axiaq and PC 1256 Simon Schembri, responded by controlling the traffic so that the man could drive through, under the coordination of SM 888 Dunstan Camilleri, who was in charge and awaiting the couple in the vicinity of Mater Dei hospital to ascertain that they were not blocked from making it to the hospital,” the police said in a Facebook post.
“They (the officers) humbly said that it was not extraordinary and was within their line of duty, however we believe it was worth sharing with our followers.”
