Juventus fan goes bankrupt after stocking up on Triplete t-shirts... but Juve lose final

Friday, 12 June 2015, 15:24 Last update: about 10 years ago

A Juventus fan has gone bankrupt after ordering 10,000 t-shirts with the word Triplete on them – signifying a treble victory – in the hope of selling them after the Champions League final. But the plan backfired after Juventus lost to Barcelona 3-1.

Italian media report that the man, named only as Michele, invested in the T-shirts at the price of €10 each – for a total of €100,000. His ambition was to sell them at a profit, but the T-shirts have now remained unsold with the result that the man is now facing a €100,000 bill without having the money to pay for it.

The Italian man is now trying to sell the T-shirts at €1 each, in a bid to recoup some of his losses. But which Juventus fan would want a reminder of the defeat in Berlin?

Juventus won the domestic league and cup, and a victory in the Champions League final would have made it a memorable Triplete (treble). But it was Barcelona who celebrated the feat, as the Spanish giants won the final 3-1 to add this success to the Spanish league and the cup they had won earlier.
