Hibernians midfielder Andrew Cohen won this year’s edition of the MFA Best Player of the Year award.
It was the third time that the Hibernians and Malta international won this prestigious award.
This was the highlight of last night’s award ceremony organised by the Malta Football Association (MFA), during which other wards were awarded.
MFA President Norman Darmamnon Demajo gave five special awards on the 100th anniversary of the top division league in Malta.
These were awarded to referee Chris Lautier, who with 230 matches is the referee with most presences in the history of Malta’s top flight.
Robert Gatt was honoured with the same award for his 315 matches on the bench of Floriana and Hibernians.
Goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his 500 matches and Stefan Sultana for being best scorer of all time with 197 goals also received awards.
Finally the longest serving president, Hibernians’ President Tony Bezzina, who has been at the helm of the Paola side for 27 years, winning 8 titles, 7 FA Trophies and 2 Super Cups.
