The Malta Paediatric Association has called upon the political parties to implement their pre-electoral promise to allow parents to be able to use their sick leave entitlement when their children are sick.

In a statement, the association noted that the Labour Party and Nationalist Party had made such a promise before the election.

The association called upon the political parties to maintain their promise after the necessary consultations are carried out.

This measure, the association said, should lead to more respect and loyalty from the employee, largely because the employer would be recognizing the worker’s responsibility towards his or her children.
