On the occasion of World Refugee Day, the Nationalist Party paid tribute to the thousands of people who, for different reasons, had to leave their country in search of a better life.

In a statement issued by its spokesman on immigration, Francis Zammit Dimech, the PN said that although the situation is serious around the globe, here in Malta we must concentrate on the plight of refugees in the Mediterranean.

Malta, the PN said, always offered its assistance to people in difficulty, and one must commend the work carried out by the Armed Forces of Malta, the police, doctors and paramedics and other professionals who dealt with migrants in the course of their duties.
