British national dies shortly after being rescued at Comino

A 59-year-old British man died shortly after being rescued at the Crystal Lagoon in Comino. He was pronounced dead at Gozo’s General Hospital.

Initially, he was assisted by the Emergency Response Rescue Corps at Crystal Lagoon in Comino at 1.30pm. The man was initially taken to hospital by means of an AFM helicopter.

A magisterial inquiry is under way.

In a separate incident, a 72-year-old Serbian national was assisted by Malta Red Cross Lifeguards in Golden Bay at around 2pm. He did not require hospital treatment however.
