New government portal allows electronic copy of fines to be sent 12 hours after issue

Wednesday, 24 June 2015, 15:12 Last update: about 12 years ago

The redesigned online portal of the Local Enforcement System was launched this morning by Local Government Minister Owen Bonnici, and will start operating on 15 July.

The portal will offer a more efficient service and registered users will have the opportunity to receive an electronic copy of a fine 12 hours after it is issued.

Individuals may also be reminded of pending fines, tribunal sittings and dates of tribunal decisions by message or email.

The website will also offer companies with a fleet of cars the possibility to appoint an account holder for better control.

Summons will still be mailed to those who prefer not to register for the system.
