Serial fraudster Duncan Buttigieg has been jailed for another thirty months after a court found him guilty of defrauding a man out of €3,400 for a supposed knee operation that was never performed.

The court heard how Mr Buttigieg, 32, from Ghaxaq, took the money from Guido Agius, telling him that he needed it for a knee operation. He told him that the procedure would be carried out at the St James Hospital. However, when Mr Agius checked with the hospital, he found out that this was not true.

Magistrate Carol Peralta jailed Mr Buttigieg for 30 months. He has already been found guilty of fraud on a number of occasions and also has a number of pending cases.
