A Chinese woman today was given a suspended sentence after she admitted to trying to bribe a police officer at the Malta International Airport yesterday.
The 30-year-old was prevented from entering the country but refused to board the flight back.
Immigration police were called on site. The woman asked to use the bathroom, to where she was escorted. She came out of the cubicle holding cash which she tried to place in the police officer’s pocket. The policewoman refused and booked her.
The Chinese woman admitted to the charges and was given a two year jail term suspended for four years. She was ordered to leave the country and had €1,500 confiscated.
