Two diving instructors, Marko Knezevic  from Serbia and Jordan James Morley from England pleaded not guilty to assaulting two Spanish persons and grievously injuring one of them.

They are also charged with breaking the peace and being drunk in public. Marco Knezevic is also charged with causing slight injuries to one of the Spanish individuals and a violent attempt on a woman’s modesty.

Inspector Jeanne Farrugia testified that on July 8, after Isle of MTV, the two men were on their way from Floriana to Msida, where they ran into a group of Spanish individuals. One of the men then groped the breast of a Spanish woman, which resulted in two of her friends fighting with the two men accused.

Two of the Spanish nationals ended up in hospital, one of whom is suffering from grievous injuries and is being operated on.

Defence attorneys Arthur Azzopardi and Ronald Aquilina requested bail, which was granted under certain conditions. They cannot leave the islands, approach witnesses and must report to the Msida police station daily.

They must also be at home between 10pm and 6.30 am each day. Bail was granted at €300 with a personal guarantee of €10,000.
