The St Vincent de Paul home for the elderly today said that an investigation in alleged irregularities into the way an elderly resident was buried found that there had been no breach of procedures.
The home was replying to media reports that an elderly resident was buried without his family being notified.
In a statement, the home administration said that the procedures in place establish that the residence is obliged to inform the next of kin as laid down in an application residents are required to fill in.
The procedure was followed to the letter in this situation, the home said, as the persons indicated in the document pertaining to the resident in question were informed about the elderly person’s death.
One of the people listed had taken care to organise the funeral, the home said.
