The Police have told the Malta Independent that they are consulting the Attorney General on the case surrounding Hungarian student Daboma Jack.
This newsroom asked the police to confirm whether the woman who allegedly insulted Mr Jack and spat at him on July 1, when he was trying to create order to a queue of people in Valletta waiting for their tallinja card, had herself gone to the police station in Valletta.
The police were also asked whether Mr Jack is also being interrogated on the allegation made by the woman, that he called her a prostitute.
In response, they said that investigations are ongoing and that they are consulting the Attorney General.
Mr Jack confirmed that he was contacted by the police. Recently, the woman alleged that the attack was not racially motivated.
She told the press that she was coming back from hospital with her mother and movement in the crowd that Mr Jack was trying to organise resulted in her being pushed onto a metal railing. She said that Mr Jack tried to film her angry reaction and that he called her a prostitute.
Mr Jack was asked whether it was true that he called her a prostitute, to which he said – “The truth is out there. God is in control”.
The district policeman on duty on the day of the incident called for back-up and three RIU officers arrived at the scene. The controversial arrest was captured on camera however the officers are claiming that they acted on what they found after some people present claimed that Mr Daboma instigated the incident. The incident also made it to Hungarian news portals.
Yesterday, Daboma Jack filed a complaint arguing that the woman who turned herself in to the police should be charged in court.
