There are a total of 12 police officers facing criminal charges and are suspeneded from the force while there are another 20 facing charges who have not been suspended.
The information was tabled in parliament by Interior Minister Carmelo Abela in reply to a question put by opposition MP Beppe Fenech Adami.
However, the Minister could not answer a question as to how many police officers were still serving in the Force despite having a criminal conviction, because there is no electronic system and the information is still being compiled with the Minister saying that it will take 'a lot of time' to compile it.
Those suspended include one inspector, four sergeants and seven constables. Those not yet suspended include three inspectors, two WPCs, two sergeants and 13 constables.
