Meeting the Odyssey is a social and artistic collaborative project. Each summer from 2014 to 2016, artists and organisers from different European countries travel together, giving workshops and performing theatrical pieces. The project combines elements of the Odyssey, contemporary themes relevant to Europe and stories collected through exchanges with the local population. However, Meeting the Odyssey is also a journey in itself, symbolically set on a ship that has sailed from the Baltic to the Mediterranean Sea, bringing people together through long-term collaboration and discovering new artistic landscapes and cultural attitudes to develop synergies at the European level.

Meeting the Odyssey evolves into Instants which are performances that combine the international element brought on by the Meeting the Odyssey artists with the local talents of teenagers from Aġenzija Żgħażagħ in a bid to show that the arts are not merely forms of entertainment but can also be a catalyst to bringing about positive change in society and its members through active participation and involvement.

Meeting the Odyssey is free of charge and this goes hand in hand with the Arts Council Malta's commitment to making arts and culture more accessible to everyone. Nevertheless some events require tickets or reservation like the concert by world-renowned pianist Noriko Ogawa, which is already fully booked. With this in mind, audiences are encouraged to secure tickets for their favourite acts in order to avoid disappointment.

From world famous musicians like the Talich Quartet to interactive audiovisual installations like Pixels Wave by Miguel Chevalier, touching dance performances by the highly talented Kibbutz to exciting theatrical shows like the world renowned Stomp, among many others, the Malta International Arts Festival offers something to suit every taste and always brings an element of intrigue and novelty to make one want to come back for more.

Meeting The Odyssey in Malta is being held in collaboration with Transport Malta and the Cospicua Local Council.

The Malta International Arts Festival is organised by Arts Council Malta under the Ministry for Justice, Culture and Local Government, in collaboration with European Capital of Culture 2018 and with the support of the Valletta Local Council, TVM, MSV Life, Grand Hotel, Alfred Mizzi Foundation, Lotteries Gaming and Authority Malta and The Phoenicia Hotel.

For more information and the latest updates on all the Festival's events visit www.maltaartsfestival.org. Tickets can be bought from www.ticketline.com.mt, Embassy box office Valletta and Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta.
