A 51-year-old man of Nadur was in critical condition after he was involved in a traffic accident in his hometown yesterday evening, the police said this morning.

In a second statement, the police said that the man's condition improved and was no longer in critical condition.

The accident happened in Victoria Road at 10.15pm, when there was a head-on collision between a Daihatsu Terios driven by the Nadur resident with a bus driven by a 33-year-old of Qala.

The Nadur man was taken to the Gozo General Hospital where he was found to be in critical condition. His condition later improved.

Magistrate Joanne Vella Cuschieri ordered an inquiry.
