MCAST to receive applications for courses starting in October

Next week, the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) will be receiving applications from new students for its full-time courses beginning in October. 

MCAST will be receiving applications between 08:30hrs and 12:00hrs on the following dates: Monday 20 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letter A, Tuesday 21 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letter B, Wednesday 22 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letter C,  Thursday 23 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letters D, E, F and Friday 24 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letters G,H, I, J, K and L.  On Monday 24 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letter M, Tuesday 28 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letters N, O, P, Q, R, S and on Wednesday 29 July for applicants whose surname starts with the letters T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z. 

Applicants who cannot submit their application on these dates may do so on Thursday 30 July or Friday 31 July between 08:30hrs and 12:00hrs. Prospective students are to submit their application at the respective Institute whose courses they are applying for. Students applying for the Institutes of Applied Sciences, Business Management and Commerce, Community Services, Information and Communication Technology, Engineering and Transport (Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics courses) are to submit their application at the respective Institute at MCAST Main Campus in Paola. 

The Centre for Agriculture, Aquatics and Animal Sciences within the Institute of Applied Sciences is located in Qormi, the Institute for Creative Arts is located in Targa Gap, Mosta. Prospective students applying for Building and Construction courses within the Institute of Engineering and Transport are to submit their application at Naxxar while prospective students applying for the Maritime courses within the Institute of Engineering and Transport are to apply at Kalkara. Students applying for the Pathway to Independent Living Programme are to present their application at the Student House, MCAST Main Campus, in Paola. Gozo Campus applications will be received at the College’s Campus in Ghajnsielem. Applicants who reside in Gozo and wish to apply for a course in one of Malta’s institutes can present their application at the Gozo Campus in Ghajnsielem as well. 

This year the College is offering twelve new courses including six degree programmes. For the first time MCAST will be introducing the new vocational area of “Performing Arts”. The Institute for Creative Arts will be launching the MCAST Diploma in Performing Arts, with the aim of developing other performing arts courses in subsequent years.  The same institute is also offering new degree courses, namely, the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Game Art and Visual Design, the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Photography, the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Product Design and the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Spatial Design.

The Institute of Applied Sciences is introducing the MCAST Certificate in Pre-Nursing, the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chemical Technology and the Bachelor of Science (Honours) Health Science (Physiological Measurements). The Institute of Information and Communication Technology is launching the MCAST Advanced Diploma in IT (End User Support), the MCAST Advanced Diploma in IT (Multimedia Software Development) and the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Multimedia Software Development. 

Students that have successfully completed the MCAST Certificate in Vocational Skills offered under the Pathway to Independent Living Programme now have the opportunity to further their studies and enrol for a new course entitled MCAST Traineeship Award in Vocational Studies (Hospitality Studies/ Office Skills/ Production and Retail). 

MCAST’s career advisors at the MCAST Main Campus, in Paola, will be available to assist prospective applicants without the need of an appointment during the application dates, between 08:30hrs and 13:30hrs. The College’s Inclusive Education Unit is meeting prospective students with disabilities or learning difficulties to discuss their requirements as well.
