The role Malta played in the evacuation process during the 2011 uprising against Gaddafi in Libya was praised by Chinese officials during the visit PN leader Simon Busuttil is making in China this week.
In meetings held yesterday, Zhao Shaohua, vice-chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People’s Party, referred to the 5,000 Chinese nationals who were brought over to Malta during the momentous days that led to Gaddafi’s downfall.
In his address, Dr Busuttil spoke about the importance of tackling issues such as immigration, terrorism and climate change.
The PN delegation also met Sun Yongfu, director general of the European Affairs Department of China’s Trade Ministry.
