An Iranian man today admitted to buying a stolen Swedish passport for €4,200.
The fake passport was discovered on his arrival in Malta.
Cherazi Masoud, 35, pleaded guilty to possessing the stolen passport as well as using it.
Magistrate Doreen Clarke handed him a two-year suspended sentence and ordered that he be deported immediately.
The court was told how Masoud bought the passport from someone in Turkey, without knowing it has been stolen.
Police Inspector Frankie Sammut prosecuted while lawyer Simon Micallef Stafrace appeared for the man.
