More than 4,000 people are taking part in Summer on the Move activities, organized by the National Sport Council, Parliamentary Secretary Chris Agius said. Mr Agius, who is responsible for Youth and Sport, yesterday visited several centres that have started hosting the activities.
Qualified coaches are holding the sessions in ten centres across Malta. These include the Ta’ Qali Basketball Complex, the Selmun Family Park and the Marsa Sports Complex, where such activities are not usually held in summer. Seven out of the ten centres were fully booked before this year’s programme was launched.
Mr Agius also visited the National Pool Complex in Tal-Qroqq, where swimming sessions are being held. This year a Parent and Child Swimming session was also introduced for parents with children aged over two.
On the other hand dance sessions are being held at the Cottonera Sports Complex. Classes ranging from jazz to hip-hop are offered. 10 athletes are also receiving training at the first boxing academy.
