Another successful project was planned and implemented by the young people in the Salesian Oratory Sliema. A4U, an initiative organised by Agenzija Zghazagh, aims to support small organisations. The objectives of Kre8 Youthspace were to involve as many young people as possible into creating their own space, where they could spend their leisure time in a safer and healthier environment. Being young is also about running about, enjoying oneself and making friends.
The Salesian Oratory is a space for young people to relax, meet friends and feel safe, but most of all to keep them occupied/engaged as much as possible while being challenged for personal growth. The initiative has involved young people in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the much-needed refurbishment of the premises of the Salesian Oratory. The aim of this project was to prepare young people with skills needed for their own personal development, by using the skills needed to work towards a goal as a team and to keep within deadlines as a whole team.
The Salesian Oratory in Sliema has now been turned into a much safer and attractive space that can hold different activities of different nature. Young people had the opportunity to explore further their knowledge of empowerment and while being more creatively involved, helped other young people from all walks of life.
