Over 3,000 people participate in the second edition of the President’s Bike Ride at Night

Over 3,000 cyclists and motorbike riders attended the President’s Bike Ride at Night, which was held on Friday.

In a press statement, the President’s office hailed the second edition of the event as a success, which saw cyclists and motorbike riders uniting in a show of solidarity in an activity which helped the thousands who turn to the Malta Community Chest Fund for help.

President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca thanked all those who participated for their generosity.

The President said the Malta Community Chest Fund is a unique fund that the Maltese and Gozitan population turn to when faced with difficult situations such as chronic illnesses and poverty.

The President’s Bike Ride departed from San Anton, with hundreds of cyclists leaving from the Palace’s courtyard.

Thousands of motorbike riders in turn left from Verdala Palace, with the President and Mr Preca personally thanking a number of the riders.

After addressing the riders, both the President and Mr Preca got on a motorbike, marking the first time they participated in this show of solidarity, the President’s office said.
