Kyle Mifsud, 23, of Cospicua and Donna Camilleri, 28 of Santa Lucija, today were remanded in custody after they were charged with stealing a credit card and using it to purchase jewellery and a mobile phone. They were also charged with relapsing.

The two pleaded not guilty.

A court heard that the couple allegedly stole a bag from a car in Marsascala on 26 May. The two then used one of the credit cards which were in a pouch in the bag to purchase various items reaching €659.

The court turned down the lawyers’ request to grant the couple bail due to the fact that the prosecution feared that the couple might approach witnesses who still have to testify.

Police Inspector Robert Said Sarreo prosecuted while lawyer Noel Bartolo appeared for Ms Camilleri and lawyer Austin Gauci Maistre on behalf of Mr Mifsud.

Magistrate Doreen Clark presided over the case.
