Another robbery in Sliema has been reported, this time just “a few metres away from around 30 police officers standing still to ‘organize’ traffic in Tower Road due to St Gregory's feast fireworks show”, according to Nationalist MP George Pullicino.

This was the latest in a string of robberies that have left Sliema families in shock and feeling unsafe.

Last week, a meeting was held between residents and the police in a bid to try to find a solution to this spate of robberies.

The Nationalist MP asked whether this was the way that police officers should be deployed, and said that more policemen on foot patrol are needed.
