The Parliamentary Secretary for Health Chris Fearne has praised the sterling job done by physiotherapists, during a visit to St Luke’s Hospital on world physiotherapy day.
Mr Fearne said physiotherapists offer a top notch service whilst working in a hospital with limited resources.
He said in the coming year, St Luke’s will be turned into a centre of excellence for rehabilitation.
A number of patients at Mater Dei who require long-term rehabilitation currently find themselves in a vacuum, Mr Fearne said.
The rehabilitation centre at St Luke’s will be equipped with the best possible facilities, whereas at the moment physiotherapists are made to perform miracles with outdates equipment from the 1970s, Mr Fearne pointed out.
