Friday, 18 September 2015, 11:14 Last update: about 12 years ago

As has already been announced by the Customs Department, that a new IT system is to be put in place in relation to clearance of goods, the department said that the upgrade would take place at the end of the week so that export companies are not affected.

Therefore, the department said that the current system will be switched off today.

Between today and Tuesday, MITA employees, assisted by Customs employees, will be working day and night to transfer data onto the new servers.

At some point on Tuesday morning, if no problems arise, the new system should be up and running.

As for those who urgently need to export merchandise, a manual declaration should be made by clients and presented to the department until the electronic system is back in place.

One can call 2568 5150 or 2568 5051 to make use of this emergency system.
