A 22-year-old Polish man is in critical condition after jumping off the Azure Window in Dwejra, Gozo.

The incident took place today at around 11.45am, the police said.

In a statemtent the police said that after jumping off the cliff, the man began shouting for help. He was given first aid by bystanders, who called for an ambulance.

The Pole was taken to the Gozo General Hospital by ambulance. These he was certified to be in danger of losing his life.

A Duty Magistrate has been informed about the case and an inquiry is being held.
