A statement issued by the Institute of Journalists said that they had received the complaint from NET newsroom and had also communicated with Joe Mizzi's Ministry about the incident that happened last Friday during a press conference. They said that what happened can be viewed all the footage circulated on social media. They added that it is a pity that such difficult situations arise.
Last Friday Minister Joe refused to answer questions from a Net News journalist.Mr Mizzi answered questions put to him by both The Times and PBS, but refused to go into detail to questions put to him by the journalist from the PN's television station, who then claimed he was being discriminated against. The minister demanded that the journalist put to him his questions in writing, so that he could give him a written reply. Net News also claimed that someone switched off the Net news camera.
Later Net News Head of News Fabian Demicoli reported the whole matter to the Institute of Journalists. In a statement, the Nationalist Party deplored Minister Mizzi's behaviour. Instead of resorting to such behaviour, PN said, the minister had better see to the bad state of the roads as well as public transport.
While it is the duty of defending the right to work of journalists and cameramen in their work, that a democratic society should never be prevented, it is evident that the IĠM is compelled to renew its sincere appeal , which already made a statement released just weeks ago, which appeal was addressed to politicians, personalities from all walks and journalists to show maturity and mutual respect, especially when they want to work together.
