Minister for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties Helena Dalli today said there is a need to ensure that medicines and pharmaceutical services are available for all in a fair and equal manner.
Speaking during the launch of the Pharmacy Expo 2015 organised by the Chamber of Pharmacists, Dr Dalli reiterated the Government’s commitment in ensuring that the pharmaceutical service given by pharmacists is within everyone's reach and at all reasonable times.
Minister Dalli also announced that the information campaign related to generic medicinal products currently undertaken by the Ministry, together with the Medicines Authority and the Pharmacy Department within the University of Malta is being extended.
Italian Architect Fiona Sartoretto Verna delivered a presentation entitled “10 steps for tomorrow’s winning pharmacy” about pharmacy design and the best ways how to promote pharmaceutical products so that pharmacies become a focal community point.
Earlier, Minister Dalli, accompanied by the President of the Chamber of Pharmacists Mary Anne Sant Fournier and Medicines Authority Chairman Prof. Anthony Serracino Inglott toured around the various stands featuring consumer healthcare displays, screening services, lifestyle management and non-communicable diseases amongst others.
The event held to mark the World Pharmacists Day was attended by various pharmacists and pharmacy owners, new graduates and 5th year pharmacy students.
