Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Rights Roderick Galdez announced that a change in management within the San Frangisk Centre in Ta' Qali will take place, with the new operator being Animal Pro Health Ltd

The new operator was chosen following a call for applications, and will invest in improvements and the centre will then again open to the public.

As of 28 September, the services provided by the centre will be temporarily suspended until the new arrangements are completed.

Government plans the centre to be accessible for everyone, especially for NGOs and voluntary organisations that work in the animal sector.

The Secretariat will later publish a list of 19 veterinary clinics around Malta and Gozo offering an emergency on call service. Animal Welfare will continue to work normally, and for further information the public can call the Directorate on 1717, or email [email protected]
