As Bank of Valletta and the Malta Community Chest Fund start working on the new edition of L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank campaign, around 5,000 old piggy banks, which had been in use for almost a decade, have recently been recycled. The end result was over 420 kilograms of colourfully shredded plastic that will be find its way back in the manufacturing of new products.
The L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign will this year mark its 12th edition. During the campaign, over 5,000 piggy banks are distributed in every classroom, at both Primary and Secondary levels, around Malta and Gozo. Throughout, this campaign has remained true to its original scope; teaching children the value of solidarity and altruism, whilst helping them appreciate the importance of saving for a rainy day.

We understand that by making positive choices we can all reduce our effect on the environment and every effort is made so that the organisation remains sustainable.",
Over the past years, Bank of Valletta has adopted a systematic approach to its green efforts, which include the undertaking of a full assessment of envisaged costs, impact and effectiveness before embarking on any projects. Meanwhile the Bank undertook several green measures including an extensive water-saving programme that is saving the Bank a total of 3,000,000 litres of water annually.
