Monday, 12 October 2015, 16:20 Last update: about 10 years ago

The 70th anniversary of UNESCO was celebrated with an orchestral concert at the Manoel Theatre, under the patronage of President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca. The concert took place on 3rd October at 11am. The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra gave an excellent performance under the direction of Brian Schembri.

To add to the local talent a special international guest artist was invited for the occasion. Soloist Sergei Nakariakov on trumpet and Flugelhorn, dubbed the Paganini of the trumpet, performed brilliantly and all present could appreciate his amazing talent and love for the instruments he plays.

Invitees were encouraged to give donations to Action for Breast Cancer Foundation which in turn will be passed on to the Pink October Campaign being coordinated by JP Advertising. Action for Breast Cancer Foundation would like to thank Professor Henry Frendo, chairman of the Maltese National Commission for UNESCO and his committee for their support in the fight against breast cancer in Malta and Gozo.

Pink October 2015 brought together The Marigold Foundation, Europa Donna Malta, the Association for Breast Cancer, JPA, the majority of Malta's media houses and numerous partners who organized one of the biggest philanthropic events in aid of breast cancer research and awareness in Malta.
