RVC Building Services Contracting says Castille façade is not as ugly as portrayed

The company responsible for the new lighting of Castille has replied to the criticism following publication of a photo on The Times.

It said:

"In view of Timesofmalta.com's controversial post on the facade lighting of Auberge De Castille we feel that it is only fair to defend our position and our thirty-four years of well-earned positive reputation, with all you clients, employees and friends.

"First of all, we would like you all to be informed that RVC have been awarded this contract through a public tender for the supply, installation and commissioning of LED luminaires for the facade and piazza lighting of Auberge De Castille square, Valletta.

"The lighting design is not in RVC's scope of works. RVC's contract includes the purchase of luminaires based on tender specifications, as well as the installation of the entire system. Having said this, the lighting designers engaged on this project have showed us complete professionalism throughout the stages of this project.

"Timesofmalta.com posted a very amateur photo of Castille's facade lighting, probably taken from a moving vehicle. This photo could have only been taken last week during one of our two days of testing and programming of the system, during which the lighting had been functioning at 100% intensity for programming purposes.

"Any lighting expert or enthusiast, very well knows that in the year 2015, such an installation would only be designed using dimming controls, as is installed on this project. This will obviously allow the client's designer to set the illumination at the correct levels in the forthcoming days as part of the commissioning phase of this project.

"Even at 100% intensity, the amateur photos taken by ourselves (above), are nowhere close to the discouraging photo displayed by Timesofmalta.com. This keeping in mind that the lights at Castille have yet to be adjusted by the lighting artists.

"While we kindly urge our followers to wait patiently for the completion of this project, we too look forward to seeing the much anticipated lighting enhancement of this beautiful location."
