A drunken parent entered a school in Zejtun and attacked an assistant head and other school workers, the Malta Union of Teachers said in a statement.

The MUT thanked the police for its prompt intervention and expressed its solidarity with a policewoman who was also a victim of the aggression.

In a statement, the MUT said that it has been appealing for many years for more security in schools.

In spite of various promises made by the previous administration and the present government, no developments have ensued.

The union appealed to the Education Minister to take action.
