Deputy Attorney General Donatella Frendo Dimech will be sworn-in as a Magistrate next week.
The news was inadvertently revealed in President Marie Louise Coleiro’s official list of engagements for next week. In a second press release to revise the first, the list of engagements did not include the new magistrate's name.
Such appointments are usually made public through an official government announcement.
Dr Frendo Dimech joined the Maltese Attorney General’s Office as a Prosecutor in 1997.
Since 2000, she has been dealing with international cooperation in criminal matters, extradition and money laundering, whilst also acting as contact point in the European Judicial Network.
Dr Frendo Dimech was appointed Malta’s Deputy Attorney General in 2012.
