British paedophile’s plans to move to Malta scuppered

A British paedophile who planned to buy a one-way flight ticket to Malta had his plans scuppered after a British court jailed him jailed for 10 months for breaching a court order designed to keep him away from youngsters.

Anthony Goad, 45, was jailed in 2001 for sex attacks on girls in his home town of Morecambe in Lancashire.

In 2011, Goad was driven from the seaside resort and re-housed for his own safety after A4 posters about his jail term were sent out to homes, schools and businesses in his neighbourhood in Morecambe.

Goad was handed a lifetime Sexual Offender Prevention Order (SOPO) following his convictions.

The posters, several of which were sent anonymously to the press, included a colour photograph of Goad and his full address, together with details of his crimes.

He contacted police with concerns over his personal safety after receiving one of the posted at his home.

His plans to move to Malta came to light when the Preston Crown Court heard how he had come into contact with two 17-year-olds through his current relationship with a 21-year-old girl.

Goad is not allowed to have contact with any male or female under the age of 18 under the terms of the order.

Judge Mark Brown heard how Goad attended a family karaoke party and took pictures of a 17-year-old girl before sending them to her via Facebook.

He then had contact with her brother.

He has been described as “a controlling and dominant man who preys in particular on young females.”

The prosecution told the court that police had discovered Goad was planning to abscond and was going to buy a one-way ticket to Malta.
