Eurosport has teamed up with local charity L-Istrina to organise the Eurosport Football Nursery Fun Event for the fifth year running.

The Eurosport Football Nursery Fun Event saw a number of Children under 13 and promising footballers from different nurseries come together to raise funds in aid of this year’s L-Istrina. The Birkirkara senior players including Fabrizio Miccoli were the referees during this friendly football tournament. 

During the event we gave the opportunity to all the participating nurseries for sessions in physiotherapy, football physiology and laws of the game.

Eurosport, added up the collected sum with another €11,500 to L-Istrina for a total sum of €15,000. Of which €2,100 where collected from the participating nurseries and €1,400 where donated from various Companies who work with Eurosport during the year.

 “We are extremely proud to having been given the chance to organise yet another successful sporting event.  In a country constantly battling against obesity and inactive lifestyle, such events are very encouraging to us, whilst continuously underlining the generosity of the Maltese population,” aid Christina Peresso, Managing Director at Eurosport. 

The eight nurseries who took part were Birkirkara, Mosta, Mqabba, Fgura, Pieta, Melita, Gozo FA, and Lija/Iklin.

All participants were awarded with a certificate, signed by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca to commemorate the occasion.

The event took place at St Aloysius and Infetti Grounds in Birkirkara.
